Band-Aids and Disclaimers...

Ok, I confess....

As I made dinner Wednesday night I tried to cut an onion like Emeril was doing it in a recent show that we watched, and well, I cut my thumb. It looked pretty easy when he was doing it, and it was going well until...somehow the knife slipped on the outer layer of onion and into my thumb. That is the best way I can explain what happened. You know, I almost sharpened that knife before I used it, guess it is good that I did not.

I for one now believe that cooking shows should have disclaimers on the bottom the screen, you know, "this is a professional chef, do not try these methods at home", they have them in the commercials when the car appears to be driving on the side of a building, seems logical to me, especially as I look at the Band-Aid on my thumb.

I completely agree with your theory! I sliced my hand open using advice from the Food Network! :-) They were showing this cool trick to get the pit out of an avocado by sticking the tip of your knife in it and then it just pulls right out... Well, the avocados in Russia are apparently picked a little ripe. So the pit was pretty much hollow. So, the knife went through the pit, through the other side of the avocado and into my hand. Half of my finger even went numb because of it. It's better now, except for when my knuckle touches something, it still feels a little like there's a giant open wound there! ...Oops!

Hope it feels better soon!!! :-)
